Since then two new projects with Makua peoples have begun. HERBIVOROUS MEN (w/Mikko, and Corby) a noisy hardcore band in the vein of Black Flag's long hair years, Flipper and the like. Unsettling and out of control. There is also TEMPLE FUGATE (w/Jacoby, & Todd). A band that is a complete 180 from Makua. i guess, i would say it's in the vein of all things mid- western especially the greater Chicago area, so that would mean everything from Cap'n Jazz & Braid to Don Caballero. Did i mention that it was an instrumental band too?
This is what is going on right now concerning those involved in MVBT (as well as Jacoby's continued involvment w/SIBLINGS).

Status Report 004/2011
So.... MVBT played a show this past friday at Anna- whatever- it's- called. I say whatever- it's- called cos' the place is under new or recently new owners who happened to change the name or maybe they didn't. So whatever, i'll call it Anna's. Coincedentally it was also our first show at Anna's. It was also the fourth time (ever!) that we got to play our entire set which included a new improv outro that totally fucking failed at the Asterisk show. Few things gleaned from this past friday's show.
- I can't look at people while screaming, much like in everyday life i tend to avert the eyes.
- SUNN AMPS = AWESOME TONE = DUH!
- It feels weird that a handful of people kept a close distance while watching us perform. Perform? Play. We are now welcomed with curiosity rather than the usual disdain we are met with.
- During False Crack's set i was torn between taking pictures and singing along to their cover of "I Don't Wanna Hear It". I chose singing along.
- etc....
Anyway... practices, maybe some shows sometime in the near future.

Status Report 002/2011
Our first show of the year, as well as our first show as a four piece came and went. Things learned from that show:
- We NEED a new bass amp ASAP!
- We NEED an amp strictly for samples. Our samples were a garbled mess coming out of the PA system.
- I shouldn't touch microphone stands when Corby is playing saxaphone.
- etc.....
Technical difficulties aside the show went pretty well, and i actually enjoyed myself and more or less watched every band that was playing which is something i haven't done in a very, very long time. The venue, Asterisk, was a cool spot and very welcoming. Too bad that it can't become a legitamet showspace due to the fact that it is a "residence". The No Suck Fest collective keep a tight ship. Selling merch to raise money and to make sure bands don't go over their allotted. Although the rule seemed to lax a bit when the dance floor was to full capacity. What was surprising was that there wasn't any sort of bullshit going on, especially considering that the event was b.y.o.b. No fights. Nothing broken (that i know of) this being a major point as there is a giant paper-mache shark and a giant paper-mache octopus hanging precariously over everyone's heads. So yea...
It's been agreed by the four of us that we will be practicing at least once a month which is something that hasn't been done since the very beginning of Makua. Hopefully (more shows &) new songs with everyone's input will be coming soon.
End of status report.
